A former bakery in Vienne
Before welcoming guests, La Maison des Chalands was a bakery. It is part of the history of Vienne, the district on Blois’s left bank with close ties to the Loire. The port of La Creusille, traditional boats and Saint-Saturnin church recall this riverside past. Today, the house offers views of the river and town: a lovely way to discover Blois from the opposite bank.

A village of châteaux and invention
Chitenay was the birthplace of Denis Papin in 1647, one of the pioneers of steam power. The village also has its own château: the main building dates from around 1750, with an older 17th-century wing.
